From netball to Snow Club and Sport Aerobics, the sporting prowess of Twizel Area School students certainly doesn't stop when they step outside the school gates.

Thank you to the community members who came to the Seesaw Information Session on Monday and also to Nicki Tempero from CORE Education, who gave her time to talk about Seesaw and how students at Twizel Area School from Years 1-10 are using it regularly in their classrooms, replacing the old style paper portfolios.

Why do people do the things they do? And here’s one that’s probably even more important to us parents: How can we motivate our children to do the right thing?

On Wednesday 24th August, we are running a Non-Uniform Day to raise money to help Monique van der Westhuizen with her Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) project. Come to school dressed in your PJs with a gold coin donation! 😴

Some whānau members have recently asked about student attendance and what circumstances equate to legitimate time away from school. Here is the Ministry of Education’s guidelines for parents regarding attendance and why it matters.

This term ākonga from M1 and M2 are completing the Wonder Project's 'Power Challenge' learning how we power our towns, and designing & building their own windmills to power a mini town. They've also made ping pong ball launchers using paper cups and balloons!

The Year 1-8 Upper Waitaki Cross Country in Omarama is fast approaching. Those students involved have taken home a permission form to be completed...this form needs to be returned to the school office by tomorrow, Friday 5th August.

Well done to all the teachers and students who attended the First Aid Course last Saturday. It was a long day for a number of students and teachers completing the whole day course and a shorter day for those teachers who were getting recertification of their previous qualification. 🤕

We've all seen the Netflix show, now you can read the books! Thanks to the Skittles & Coffee Club fundraising Rainbow Day last term, the Twizel Community Library is now the proud owner of all the Heartstopper book series, plus follow-up books written by Alice Oseman.

The Junior School class trips to the Tekapo Springs Ice Rink started this week, although Tuesday's Room 8 trip was put on ice (literally) due to the rain and blustery conditions.

Due to the Snow Day on the last day of Term 2, we were unable to present Year 7-13 ākonga with their Striving Awards. These were handed out in a special assembly today, you can see the video here and also listen to William Newlands' presentation about the Young Inspiring Explorers Summit in Christchurch.

Ākonga in Room 13 have started their term 3 topic - Mahika Kai | Where does our food come from? The students began by having a taste test challenge, trying to figure out what the food was and where it came from.
