At Twizel Area School, we value open and clear communication between home and school and there are a number of different ways that whānau can communicate with us. It is important caregivers know the correct channels so your questions, queries, and problems can be dealt with accordingly.

You can expect to receive a reply within 5 working days (this is in line with contractual arrangements for Primary Teaching Staff administration allocations of 80 mins once per week).

There is no expectation for staff to respond to emails received after 4.30 pm or before 8.30 am, during school holidays or at the weekend, and this will be left at each staff member's discretion.


You can reach the school by phone on 03 435 0650 between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm. Outside of these hours, you can leave a message and we will contact you if needed.

NO CONTACT should be made with staff via their personal social media accounts. This includes student absences, school sports questions, or general information. Any contact of this nature will be disregarded.

Facebook is used by Twizel Area School to celebrate our students and their school achievements, as well as information about past and upcoming events, and to provide information for our community. The page is updated regularly. Click HERE to access our Facebook page.

We also have a Twizel Area School Sport Group that caregivers can join. This is where you'll find everything sport related at Twizel Area School. From athletics and rowing in the summer months to netball and snow club in the winter, and everything in between. Click HERE to join.

Student Absence Notification | SchoolBridge App or Web Portal

The SchoolBridge App or Web Portal is available for caregivers to report student absence from school. Please remember that if your child is going to be away from school for any reason, it is vitally important to let us know before the start of school for the day.

Parents and caregivers can sign in with the email address you have registered with the school; this can be an Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, or Yahoo account. Caregivers can also use the Magic Link option allowing you to enter your caregiver email address and a one-time magic login link will then be emailed to you.

Keep Your Details Up-to-Date

It is crucial that we have up-to-date contact information for you in case of any emergencies or important updates that may affect your child's education.

In addition, keeping us informed of any changes to your address or phone number ensures that you receive important school-related information, such as newsletters, notices, and other communications. This information may include school events, updates on your child's progress, and other important announcements.

Please take a few moments to review your contact information via the web portal or SchoolBridge app, and update any changes as soon as possible.
