Term 3 | Week 9
Kia ora e te whānau,

As we approach the end of a very unusual Term 3, it seems disappointing that we can’t celebrate the successes of our students in the normal way with our end of term assembly. We should, however, count ourselves amongst the fortunate group that have fewer COVID restrictions on our lives than others. I cannot imagine how it would feel just making the move into Alert Level 3 now and admire the strength of the teachers and students who have continued learning apart in all the time we have been back together.

This week marked the start of a journey towards building the new school. We had our first Master Planning Sessions with the Ministry of Education and Architect teams. I’ve written a little more about the process in an article within the newsletter. The feeling from the teachers involved in the first session was both excitement and relief to actually begin the process!

In further news, the retirement of Miss Stevie Douglas is now confirmed. As you may know, she has been on sick leave for a number of weeks. We’re looking forward to taking the opportunity to celebrate the career of Miss Douglas once we move into an Alert Level 1 situation and are able to bring the community together. We’ll be looking to advertise a permanent role for a new entrant teacher in the coming weeks.

Enjoy the long weekend!

He waka eke noa,

Kate Staniford
