| Thursday 17th November 2022 | Term 4 Week 5 |
Kia ora e te whānau,
The last week has been a riot of events and activities - thank you to all our teachers who are working super hard to ensure the term is filled with exciting learning opportunities. Amongst those events were middle school camps, our marae visit day with the other schools in our Kahui Ako group, the Science Roadshow, Brainwave Presentations for students and a visit to Aoraki for Rooms 9 and 13. We still have our Leavers’ Dinner to look forward to on Friday night!
Don’t expect any let-up on the activities next week! The Primary Marae Day is on the 22nd, middle school camps continue across the week, Junior Athletics (Years 1-3) and the Home and School Disco both on the 24th. Feel free to join the wild ride across these events in whatever capacity you can.
Congratulations to Lily Brophy who has gained a 2022 Midland Choir Music Scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship perform in Timaru on the 19th of November - I know you’ll perform beautifully Lily!
Parents should come along to the Brainwave Trust whānau presentation “Unravelling the Adolescent Brain” this evening if they are available. This presentation is free and held at school (in the Foods Room) from 5 - 6.30 pm. Entry is through the sliding doors to the foyer at the back of the school. Exams are active at the time of this presentation so we cannot use the previously advertised location. The presentation is most suited for parents of students in Year 8 and above, but everyone is welcome. You can have a look at their materials here (select adolescents): https://brainwave.org.nz/research/articles.
Also, as a “Heads Up”, please don’t forget that school finishes for Year 1-6 students straight after Junior Assembly (12.30 pm) on Friday 25th November as our Primary Teachers must attend a Paid Union Meeting relating to the settlement of Teachers’ contracts with the government. If you need your child to remain at school under supervision on that afternoon, please let the school office know.
He waka eke noa,
Kate Staniford Tumuaki | Principal
