Term 1 | Week 5
Kia ora e te whānau,

This week has been another week of strong progress across our different programmes at school. Many of our Year 1-8 Mathematics teachers have begun the DMIC (Developing Mathematical Inquiry Communities) work with their classes. The swimming programme has continued (although, unfortunately not Swimming Sports), and senior students have opted into the YES (Young Enterprise Scheme) with Mr O’Carroll and the local facilitator, Regan Powell at the helm. Staff have been working with our Core Education facilitator, Nicki Tempero to develop digital portfolios for students using the Seesaw programme. I’m sure we’ll have news to share on that front in the coming weeks.

Next week, the newly formed PB4L (Positive Behavior for Learning) teaching team meet with our advisor, we have our planned Athletics Day on Tuesday, and M4’s Camp looks likely to commence. Further information regarding Camps will be distributed by Homeroom Teachers in the coming days. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept visitors/spectators for our Athletics Day due to restrictions on numbers for gatherings in the red setting. We will, however, take plenty of photos and publish them as soon as we can process them.

Our settling-in reports will be available today through the parent portal. The first report of the year is not a formal written report, but a snapshot indication of how settled your child is to their learning programme. If you would like further information relating to the report, contact your child’s teacher(s) directly. If you are having trouble logging in to the parent portal, or accessing the report please email [email protected] for assistance.

Some upcoming dates to be aware of:
  • Kāhui Ako Teacher Only Day - 17th March
  • M4 Camp (if possible) 11th March and 14th - 16th March
  • M3 Camp (if possible) 22nd March - 25th March
  • M2 Camp (if possible) 28th March - 30th March
  • M1 Camp (if possible) 30th March - 1st April

As a final reminder, if you need to let us know that your child has tested positive for COVID-19 out of hours, email [email protected]. During school hours, please call the main office on (03) 435 0650. The school community will be notified by text and email if we are informed of a positive case within the school.

He waka eke noa,

Kate Staniford
