Kia ora e te whānau,

What a relief to be moving back to Alert Level 2, even if we do have to make some changes for 'Delta Alert Level 2'!

This week there will be no newsletter, just this contact so that we can focus on bringing the school back into operation.

It is likely that there will be very few online classes on Wednesday as the teachers and support staff prepare the school for the return of our amazing students on Thursday. Please congratulate your child(ren) on my behalf for their commitment to learning and resilience in these changing times.

As we move back to school, please ensure that any devices and chargers you have borrowed from the school come back on the first day. We need them for classes. Take a moment to clean the device before returning it.

Buses will run as normal on Thursday.

In an article below, I've outlined that major changes from Alert 2, to Delta Alert 2 as well as providing a reminder of general Alert 2 expectations. This information is accompanied by the inevitable list of cancellations and postponements that accompany any COVID disruption. Please read this carefully.

Please note the major changes for Delta Alert 2 are:
  • Students cannot leave school during the course of the school day unless for parent-notified events such as doctors appointments or special education assistance (e.g. Year 13’s cannot go to local shops for lunch).
  • Everyone over the age of 12 is required to scan the tracer app if they enter the school property - this means outside as well as inside. You’ll notice more tracer scans external to the property for your convenience. This may affect you at morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
  • Everyone non-student over the age of 12 entering the building must scan the tracer app and sign-in at the main office. Those coming inside the building must maintain 2m physical distance. We advise only entering the building if you are dropping off a new entrant student or a student with special needs. All other matters would ideally be dealt with on the phone or by zoom.
  • Masks are not a requirement but are recommended.
  • Students must bring a full water bottle to school each day as water fountains are not available.
Thanks for your understanding during these challenging times, we've all been through some complex moments over the last few weeks. In further articles below, you'll find useful sources of information and support if you are experiencing difficulties. You'll also find our school Code of Conduct with items to bear in mind when making contact with the school or visiting us.

Looking forward to seeing our students back in full flow on Thursday!

He waka eke noa.
