Term 3 | Week 6
Kia ora e te whānau,

I hope this newsletter finds you all well and safe in your bubbles?

This week has certainly added intensity to the school's situation as we prepared for, and began delivery of both online and face-to-face classes. For teachers and support staff, Alert Level 3 is the hardest response level to manage. Please be kind to yourselves and to our staff, we're all working in new and sometimes intense circumstances.

At Alert Level 3 learning continues whether you are at school, or at home...
  • On the school site, we have two learning bubbles. For the students in the bubbles, school is a very different place - physical distancing is maintained, items cannot be shared, you have to stay in pretty much the same place all day, and hygiene is paramount. Thank you to the staff who are working on-site at school - I acknowledge this is a departure from our normal classroom family feel! To the students working on-site at school - Kia Kaha - we will all be back together soon!
  • Off the school site, the vast majority of our learners continue with their online programmes. It is clear there are many students showing strong dedication to their mahi even in these complex circumstances. Thank you to the staff, students and families doing their best to make this happen. Parents - a special thanks for your support right now - it certainly is not easy to complete your own work and your assist in your child's learning all at the same time.
We remain at Alert Level 3 until at least the end of Monday 6th September, when we hear the next review from the government. During Alert Level 3, the best way to contact the school is through your child's teacher or by emailing [email protected]. Our main office staff are working from home.

I hope we continue to get sunny days and the ability to get out and about for exercise. I certainly appreciate the opportunity to get fresh air each day.

Look after yourselves, and contact us if you need support, he waka eke noa,

Kate Staniford

A Message from the Board

This lockdown has been an interesting hiccup for the Board. Our fourth meeting has had to be postponed and we missed out on some professional development when the Area Schools Conference was cancelled. But, in the scheme of things, these were very minor and recoverable.

Sharing the love around your bubble

One thing that is persistently challenging for parents in lockdown is the need to split our time between everyone in our bubble, while still meeting the incessant demands of the day. And it’s a need that comes with a side order of guilt, if we’re not careful.
