As an Area School, we cater to students from age 5 to 18, servicing a wide geographic area. The Mackenzie region is famous for its stunning scenery, walking and cycling trails, hot pools and winter sports. The natural landscapes are enthralling and the wildlife is extraordinary.

We have only a few international student opportunities at any one time, but we are able to focus on providing an academic programme to suit the individual needs of the student. We offer small classes, ensuring our learners receive individual attention from our well-qualified and dedicated staff. We offer a wide range of subject choices which can be viewed online. There are many wonderful learning opportunities as an International Student, here at Twizel Area School, to help develop your knowledge, skills and attitude. We offer a real Kiwi experience.

The Twizel Township boasts cafes, restaurants and a variety of shopping experiences. We are ideally situated for a range of outdoor activities with the Aoraki National Park, Tekapo Hot Springs and Alps to Ocean Cycle Trail nearby. We have a wide range of sporting and leadership opportunities available and cater to most tastes and interests.

Families open their homes willingly to international students, our community is known for the warm hospitality extended to our tourists and new community members. The wellness and safety of our students are of utmost importance.  At Twizel Area School, we know that the homestay experience is essential to the success of our international students settling in and enjoying their New Zealand life, so we take special care and consideration when placing students and do our best to deal with any matters if they arise.
International students usually remain in contact with their homestay families for years to come, often revisiting the school, community and families in years to come.
